In the heart of Umbria

One of the advantages of the SoleLuna bed and breakfast is undoubtedly its position that will allow you to enjoy all the relaxation you want without giving up the comforts of the city.

The b&b SoleLuna is in fact in Perugia in the residential area between the greenery and the trees, away from the noise. Not far from us there is also the hospital of Perugia Santa Maria della Misericordia, called Silvestrini, a center of national excellence.

Near the b&b SoleLuna there is Solomeo, the village restored by the entrepreneur of the cashmere Brunello Cucinelli, the beautiful medieval village of San Mariano and many archaeological sites, since we know that Umbria is a land of ancient Etruscan-Roman origins and preserves jealously important testimonies of those peoples

Listed below are the most famous towns of Umbria that can be reached along the short distance that separates them from our bed and breakfast: in particular Perugia, Assisi, Spello and Trasimeno Lake

Food and wine in umbria

Umbria is a land rich in natural, landscape and artistic beauties.

Among the hills, mountains and flat areas you can discover real and its own food and wine treasures: lentils, wine, salami, cheeses, oil, honey, truffle, onion, lake fish, pies al testo, chestnuts, mushrooms, saffron and red potato. Many of these are slowfood or IGT or DOC products, some are unique in this area: the lake bean, the black and white truffle, the red potatoes of Colfiorito, the lentil of Castelluccio, the Sagrantino, the Trasimeno Gamay, the Orvieto Classico.

Perugia

Our B&B is 3.5 km from the historic center of Perugia, a medieval jewel, home of the National Gallery of Umbria and important monuments such as the Fontana Maggiore and the Rocca Paolina, as well as Etruscan archaeological sites. You can easily reach the city center by public transport or arriving with the minimetrò interchange station that will take you directly to the medieval historic center.

Get lost in the narrow streets of the medieval village while you linger admiring the splendid panorama of the Perugian valley!

If you love shopping, don’t worry, the SoleLuna b&b is right in the middle of the shopping centers, Quasar, Gherlinda and Ipercoop di Collestrada; moreover we are very close to the Uci multiplex cinema of Madonna Alta!

Assisi & Spello

Among the most famous villages in Umbria there are certainly Assisi and Spello.

In particular, Assisi, a UNESCO heritage site, one of the most visited cities in Umbria, undoubtedly constitutes a splendid medieval backdrop to what is one of the most important Italian basilicas, the one dedicated to St. Francis.

The basilica has always been the destination of countless pilgrimages due to the importance that the Saint holds in Italian and Catholic culture as well as being a true architectural spectacle given that it presents itself to the eyes of the majestic and elegant visitor, preserving very valuable frescoes. Do not miss a ride in its characteristic medieval historic center.

Also not to be missed is Spello, “Hispellum – the most splendid Colonia Julia”, in whose medieval village, rich in characteristic alleys and ancient churches, art lovers can delight by observing the valuable frescoes by Pinturicchio that adorn the Baglioni Chapel, also known as a beautiful chapel.

Also noteworthy is the floral display in Spello, which fills the town with flowers, scents and colors.

Trasimeno Lake

A few kilometers from our bed and breakfast is Trasimeno Lake, the sea of Umbria.

Take the opportunity to visit its medieval villages with a long history that characterize its banks or to lose yourself among the olive groves and vineyards of its hills!

The lake also has equipped beaches where you can stop for a swim. If you prefer to dedicate yourself to food and wine instead, don’t worry: the many restaurants in the area will delight your palate with typical dishes based on lake fish and local wines.

Alternatively, we recommend taking part in one of the many festivals of typical summer products! You can also experience the thrill of sailing on a sailboat or go fishing with local fishermen to make your stay truly unforgettable.
